News from Stone-cum-Ebony

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

A massive well done for the £1,695.43 that was raised by the Stone-cum-Ebony poppy appeal 2018/19. This was raised from house to house collections, The Ferry Inn, The Memorial Pop-Up Pub, Remembrance Sunday Church collections at Ebony and Stone and other generous donations.

The house to house collections this year will take place between Saturday 26th October and Saturday 9th November.

I am looking for someone to collect between Great Prawls and Maynes, if there is anyone willing to help, please let me know.

Please support this years Poppy Appeal and wear your poppy with pride.

A very big thank you to you all.

2,500 Mile Road Trip for RNLI.

To celebrate John Newson’s 60th Birthday on 27th June, this Summer he set off on his unrestored 1954 Series C Vincent Rapide 1000cc motorcycle to John O’Groats, down to Land’s End and finally home! What an amazing thing to complete to mark your 60th Birthday!

He hoped to complete the trip in 12 days, covering approximately 2,500 miles. All the while covering his own expenses and raising funds for the RNLI at Rye Harbour. He completed to trip in 13 days, unsupported, which is fantastic considering he had a mechanical fault on the original bike near Manchester, was recovered to Stone, then set off again on a different one!

He raised a total of £4,040 for the RNLI. Well done John!
