The Memorial Hall has been central to the lives of the village since it was built in 1922, in memory of those from the village who fought in World War 1. It is one of the few halls in the country that has the Roll of Honour proudly displayed at the head of the hall as a reminder to us of its historic origins.
A committee manages the hall on behalf of the village and run a number of fundraising events each year to maintain the upkeep of the hall. It is also available for private hire and is used by many local groups on a monthly basis including bingo, short mat bowls and WI.
Annual events the hall runs include the Over 60’s Christmas Lunch, every January. Valentines Quiz, every February. Easter Egg Hunt, every Easter Saturday. Harvest Supper, first Sunday in October. Annual General Meeting, every November. Children’s Christmas Party, every December. Christmas Quiz, every December.
The Hall Committee also runs The Memorial – a pop up pub run several times a year, is hugely popular and has its own Facebook page; Memorial Inn Stone-cum-Ebony Pop Up Pub.
The Hall is also used for events such as yoga, dances, quiz nights, race nights, bingo, celebration meals and jumble sales.
Kent Fire and Rescue generously donated a defibrilator to the village, to use in emergencies. This is installed on the outside of the hall next to the front door.
